Strategically positioned for breathtaking views of Ischia and the Mediterranean, Villa Mafalda is a breathtaking retreat tucked away from the chaos of Capri's more popular sites. Located near the world famous beauty of the Blue Grotto, the villa was built by a German aristocrat. The décor is in typical Caprese style, with local tiles and whitewashed walls. Comfortably luxurious, the atmosphere is enhanced by bronze and marble statues, antiques and works of art.

The villa boasts a beautiful hall dining room with a fireplace, a brand new, fully equipped eat-in kitchen, and a lovely living room with direct access to the pool area. On the upper floor, a sitting room with TV opens onto the spectacular views of the terrace.

All bedrooms in Villa Mafalda have private bathrooms. On the ground floor there is one twin bedroom with bathroom with shower, and two queen/twin bedrooms. The first bedroom features a bathroom with tub, and the second bedroom has a bathroom with shower. On the upper floor, the master bedroom features a bathroom with tub.

Outdoors, a private swimming pool and gardens await. Terraced shaded areas are excellent for dining al fresco, and a panoramic porch and balconies equipped with outdoor furniture create perfect spots to enjoy the magnificent Mediterranean view.

Villa Mafalda is truly the ideal place to spend a relaxing vacation. The property offers air conditioning on the first floor and dial-up Internet.

What to do in Capri
An intriguing island in the Bay of Naples, Capri has been coveted since Caesar Augustus purchased it in 29 B.C. Capri's steep walled harbors are filled with an impressive array of yachts, while fantastic beaches abound. There's always a flurry of activity in Capri's main square, La Piazzetta. Elegant shopping awaits along the Via Camerelle where boutiques are built right into Roman walls. Try cappuccino with cornetto at Tiberio café, or a Campari aperitif at the bar of the Quisisana Hotel.

Take a stroll on Via Krupp, one of the world most beautiful pathways that corkscrews down to the beaches below. Or rent a Riva (an Italian motorboat) or one of the typical capresi boats called gozzi and head to the Faraglioni, where monolithic rocks that rise from the sea, or indulge in an excursion to the Blue Grotto (better during off hours). En route you'll pass spectacular cliffside villas until you reach a keyhole between the rocks. Here you transfer to a small skiff to enter the magical grotto with its otherworldly shades of blue.

Visit Mount Solaro, the highest place in the island (589 meters above sea level), which is 12 minutes by chairlift from Piazza Vittoria or about 1 hour on foot. If you want to glimpse Capri in all its natural glory, Mount Solaro is an absolute must. Seemingly untouched by time, this peaceful corner offers refuge from the crowds of jostling tourists.

Considering that Capri is a mere four miles in length, it's rich with historical sites. Tour the Villa San Michele in Anacapri, a museum with a splendid mosaic floor and filled with Roman artifacts. Most spectacular of all are the Gardens of Caesar Augustus. Be sure to walk along ancient footpaths above the sea—one can't help but be swept up by the soul of Capri.
